Margherita Mirabella

Born in Rome in 1978. After graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Literature from the University La Sapienza, she studies photography at the European Institute of Design in Rome. She starts her career working on advertising campaigns, but quickly moves onto the humanitarian field, becoming the official photographer for Operation Smile, an international organization active all around the world to provide free surgeries for children with facial deformities. During the past 10 years, she has documented over 25 humanitarian missions across Africa, Asia and Middle East, Latin America.
She then starts collaborating with VIS and Shoot4Change, together they documented projects on children’s educational and support activities in Ethiopia and Haiti. Margherita has published her reportages from Africa, United States and Latin America on “D”, La Repubblica delle Donne, weekly magazine of La Repubblica, Io Donna, weekly magazine of Corriere della Sera, El Mundo, La Repubblica. Margherita is currently in New York. Exhibitions: 2014 Earth Day Italia “Cambiamo Clima!”  MAXXI Museum, Rome; 2012 “Shoot4Change” Palazzo Valentini, Rome; 2010 Operation Smile “10 anni di Sorrisi”, Explora Children Museum, Rome.
