Isabella Colonnello
Graduated in Political Science with a thesis on the history of women from 1940 to 1950, she began photographing in the early 1970s, focusing in particular on industrial landscapes, architecture, the transformation of territories and workplaces, while also exploring other genres. In her reportages in Africa, she documented the construction of greenhouses and wells in the Sinai Desert, as well as the various stages of planning and building roads in Zimbabwe in the area around Harare.
In 1988, for the National Institute of Urban Planning (NUPI) in Addis Ababa, she produced a photographic reportage of the city, which was presented at the 17th International Exhibition of the Milan Triennale, dedicated to The Cities of the World and the Future of Metropolises. She has collaborated extensively with fellow photographers and friends such as Giovanna Borgese, Toni Nicolini, Roberto Zabban, Gabriele Basilico, Cesare Colombo, and Paolo Vandrasch. Her photographs have been shown in both solo and group exhibitions.

In addition to her photographic work, she has devoted herself to historical research carried out with her husband, Romano Canosa, a magistrate and historian. She lives and works in Milan.
